Since her election in 2018, Rep. Mary Frances has been a champion for the environment and an outspoken advocate for education and healthcare. She introduced a resolution to clean up coal ash storage facilities, and spoke out on the weakening of environmental shoreline protections. As a member of the Government Affairs Committee, Mary Frances was a vocal supporter of hand-marked paper ballots and critical of the many vulnerabilities presented in Georgia’s new voting machines.
While Cobb County and Marietta Schools are among the state’s best, they are still asked to do more with less. Rep. Mary Frances believes the state’s budget should fund education as a higher priority.
Cost and access to healthcare continue to be a burden for too many families. Rep. Mary Frances has been an advocate for making healthcare affordable and accessible. She spoke out in the well against the Medicaid Waiver Plans, highlighting her constituents’ need for and the cost savings of Medicaid expansion.
During the 2019-2020 legislative session, Rep. Mary Frances will put her years of budgeting experience to work to defend against planned cuts to essential services to families and children and work to ensure transportation efforts for the region are not stalled. She will also continue to work to clean up the coal ash storage facilities and nearby chemical facilities that are threatening the health and well-being of our neighborhoods in district 37.
