I am a proud native of Marietta and have lived here all my life. I am a product of Georgia’s public education system, attending Marietta City Schools and graduating from Marietta High. I have been blessed with two sons, Nick and Ben, and with two wonderful grandchildren, Cooper and Madison. I’m also very grateful for my daughter-in-law Diane, who is an incredible mother to the twins. My late father, Howard Atherton, served as both mayor of Marietta and state representative in the Georgia General Assembly. His example inspired me to follow in his footsteps and run for State House District 37.
For the past thirty years, I have worked as an advocate for Georgia’s children and families at the State Capitol, representing nonprofit organizations.
I’ve watched the workings of the Georgia General Assembly close-up for over thirty years, and I’ve become increasingly frustrated by the lack of movement on issues that matter. More often than not these days, it is hard for people to make themselves heard at the State Capitol.
All the people in House District 37 have a right for their voices to be heard.
